If you’re looking to build a website, making decisions about how to build it, who to build it with and where to host it can be really daunting. If you’ve never done it before, there are lots of things to consider and there are lots of opinions flying around from so many self-proclaimed “experts” - wanting to build you the website of your dreams.
So, just stop for a minute and let me give you my opinion on a great website builder that is simple to use, easy to update, reliable and constantly developing and offering on-trend enhancements.
I’ve been building websites using wix.com for almost 10 years. In that time, I have built hundreds of sites for a variety of businesses with their own unique objectives, likes, dislikes and brands. Each of my clients is so different that I never start with a template. Instead, once we have discussed and confirmed a brief, I take to Wix to experiment with ideas until such something visually pleasing and effective starts to take shape.
I first started using Wix as it was marketed as an easy to use, DIY website builder tool. It certainly was all that, but over time, the platform has developed beyond recognition and is now a powerful solution to create a beautiful and affective web presence.
Easy to use
Once developed and ticking along, as required, I feel comfortable handing over the reins to my clients as the Wix platform is so intuitive and easy to use. Granted, if you have never used a content management system before, there will be some learning to be done, but once familiar, Wix is the simplest option out there, in my opinion.
Functionality
Over time, Wickes has added so much to its platform. There is now the ability to create a full e-commerce solution, take online bookings, manager events or even holiday lettings.
A solution to grow with you and your business
I work with so many clients who originally started with a simple five-page, brochure-style website. Wix has worked so well for them, but now their business is growing and changing, they feel confident to rely on the platform to support their new requirements. For example, businesses who once relied on the High Street, are now pivoting to focus on taking their business online and rely on Wix to run their online store, take payments and manage orders.
Integrating your business tools
The list of integrations available is always growing – from mailing lists to accounting systems and booking agents, Wix will help you streamline your business.
Reliability
I feel nervous even writing this down, as I’d hate to tempt fate, but in all the years that I’ve been building and hosting websites on Wix, I have never experienced any downtime nor have I had any technical problems that couldn’t be easily resolved. For this reason, I feel very confident in passing newly built websites across to my clients. Running a busy marketing agency, I have to choose tools that I can rely upon and I’m happy to say that Wix is one of these.
I could carry on the list, because I have a lot of good things to say about wix.com as a website building platform, but I will leave it there.
