Personal branding is the process of building a brand around your own name, skills, and personality. It's about crafting an image that lets other people know what you're all about and can help people decide whether they want to work with you. Personal branding is a way to showcase your own unique talents, ideas, and knowledge to others and can ultimately be part of the process of becoming a recognised expert in your field, or at least known as someone who has something valuable to say.
How do you build your personal brand?
First, think about who you are and what makes you unique. What do you have to offer that other people don't? What makes you stand out from the crowd? What are your strengths and weaknesses?
Next, think about who you want to reach out to. Who are your ideal clients? What does your perfect audience look like? Do some research on the companies that interest you most and consider how they might view your personal brand. Try to understand how their values align with yours—and then make sure your personal brand reflects those values as much as possible!
Finally, think about what kind of message YOU want to send about yourself. In everything from social media posts to interviews at networking events, make sure the person who reads them knows exactly what kind of person they're dealing with. This will help you stay consistent across all of your personal branding channels and ultimately present a more cohesive, professional image to the world.
If you're having trouble getting started with your personal brand, here are a few questions to ask yourself:
-What do I want people to think of when they hear my name?
-How do my values align with those of the organisations I work for/with?
-What do I want to be known for?
-What are my strengths and weaknesses, and how can I best use them to my advantage?
-How do I represent myself at work, in the community and online?
